Sound of Water

It falls gracefully through the rocks,

It murmurs a calming whisper across,

It can be mighty or flowing gently throughout,

To amaze the hearts and the eyes.

The sound of water mesmerises me,

And it’s beauty can’t be contained,

Whether it decides to fall from greater heights,

Or break the banks to flood our homes,

Such is its effect on me,

It takes me back and forth through times.

The sound of rain drops hit my umbrella,

As I kiss my lover underneath,

Igniting a passion of immense desire,

And I miss those nights and that illicit sight,

Of rains in darkness on a late night!

The same rains when they hit a gorge,

Instills a rage and makes me wonder,

Why should it anyway care,

My form is for now but the water will be forever there.

I stand over a bridge alone,

And like a child I observe the sounds,

Of the stream gushing along the village,

It’s sweet and cold, pure as the goddess of life,

And I am filled with hopes.

So gone are the rains,

And the streams shall be laughed off by the sun,

Oh sun, your glare may dare,

But the sound of water can’t fade away,

From the rivers, mountains and lakes,

And the oceans will cause a havoc when it hits the shores,

To remind me of the sound of water,

Flowing along since time beyond!
